UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT: Gia Palacorolla has accepted the position of General Manager at WestSide Athletic Club, effective December 1, 2013. Gia graduated from Virginia Tech with a B.S. in Human Nutrition, Foods & Exercise with an Exercise & Health Promotion emphasis. Post graduation she worked with Virginia Tech's Sport Club and Athletic departments and grew her portfolio at the YMCA as a Health Coach, Personal Trainer, and Fitness Programs Director. Gia is enthusiastic about tennis and fitness and looks forward to working with Tony, Mario and the rest of the team at WestSide. Her goals are to enhance customer communication and satisfaction and to grow WestSide to it's fullest potential as the premier tennis and fitness facility on the Outer Banks.

Mark your calendars. The Jingle Bell Run will be held on December 14, 10 a.m. at WestSide Athletic Club. The Jingle Bell is an annual fund raiser for our local chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Donations of non-perishable items for the Albemarle Food Bank will also be accepted. This is a low-key, inexpensive, way to enjoy fun Christmas camaraderie. Enjoy the flattest, fastest 5K course around. Prizes will be awarded for the best Christmas costume as well as other prize drawings, pizza, cookies, egg nog and cider, music, and games. Register now at www.fsseries.com
Gia has revamped SPIN, adding her own special twist and passion on Mondays and Fridays at 6:15 a.m. If you are new to the class please come at 6 a.m. so that Gia can get you properly fitted with a bike. Andrea has resumed Dance Body Boot Camp on Saturdays at 9:30 a.m. If you have not tried this fun class, you don't know what you are missing. Yoga by Michelle is being enjoyed on Wednesday mornings and Thursday evenings. Mario's Abs and Body Bar Class is kicking on M-W-F. Check out our private group tennis conditioning program designed to improve your tennis game by training like the pros. Now is the time to get ahead of the competition by participating in our strength and conditioning course focused on creating a solid foundation of strength, power and endurance to be the best competitor you can be. The layout is designed to improve your game and provide you with injury prevention. The program is offered in three phases, Off Season ended 11/21, Pre-Season, and In-Season. All are 6 week programs 2x per week. Members $10 per class or $100 up front for 12 classes. Non-Members $15 per class or $140 up front for 12 classes. Each group is limited to 6 people per session but Gia will add new sessions as sessions fill. We already have 2 sessions full on Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Call Gia at the club to join a group or to start your own group.
New Policy - You may now bring your own beverage to enjoy after your match, beer and wine only, but please keep it outside the pool gate. We will retain our ABC license for those who choose to purchase a beer at the pool bar and for special events.
WestSide Members may take advantage of using Pine Island's indoor courts at a discounted rate this winter. Discounted rates are $10 per person for 1 1/2 hour - $13.50 per person for 2 hours. Regular rate is $35 per hour. You may pay as you play at Pine Island or we can put it on your bill at the club. Thanks for the discount Rick!
Outer Banks Rental Home Owners - Enjoy club membership and add to your amenity package – allow your guests access to the Club by paying full monthly or yearly membership dues. $25 setup fee per guest family choosing to access the Club facilities and programs. The setup fee will be charged to the guest, and a credit card number must be on file for that guest. Guests entitled to full use of club facilities and classes - court fees and fees for drills and lessons not included.
